This delicious red hails from the Montagne-Saint Emilion region of Bordeaux; the 2006 is made up of 90% Merlot and 5% each Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. There's an intense bouquet and lots of fruit flavors with ver y balanced tannins and a lingering long follow- through. This wine ages very nicely: pleasant and fruity now, with a good bit of peppery spice, with age the mineral of the limestone evolves, and finally leathery aromas announce maturity. Their 'Vielles Vignes' range from 50 to 90 years old. The wine is aged for 12 months in small oak barrels then bottled without filtration to retain the Merlot grapes' inherent ripe fruit flavors. Always a hit!
